Since 1887, the Mercy Home for Boys and Girls has provided shelter and essential charitable services to young people in Greater Chicago, Illinois. To raise funds and awareness, it presented its first-ever annual Lux Gala on the evening of November 18, 2023.
An upscale black-tie-optional event, the Lux Gala took place in The Old Post Office, a historic venue with a restored art deco interior design. The evening featured a two-course dinner and entertainment courtesy of musicians, magicians, and other performers. Visitors could play games and putt on an on-site mini-golf course.
As part of its fundraising efforts, the Mercy Home presented a live and silent auction at the Lux Gala. Auction items included tickets to the Taylor Swift Eras Tour in Paris, France, and a week on vacation at the Hakuna Matata Villa in St. John, Virgin Islands. The event also held a raffle with a grand prize of $25,000.
