About DuPage Legal Aid

broken image

The largest county bar association in Illinois, the DuPage County Bar Association (DCBA), has remained committed to serving the best interests of its members and the community at large since 1879. In 1975, it partnered with the DuPage Legal Aid Foundation to source volunteer attorneys to provide free legal assistance to residents of DuPage County in lower income brackets.

A tax-exempt nonprofit organization, the DuPage Legal Aid Foundation manages DuPage Bar Legal Aid Service (DuPage Legal Aid). After confirming eligibility, DuPage Legal Aid assigns each client an attorney from the DuPage County Bar Association. Although it can offer aid in many legal areas, most DuPage Legal Aid attorneys focus on family law matters such as divorce and child support.

The fundamental objectives of DuPage Legal Aid include giving local citizens access to equal and fair due process and protection under the law. It also stresses the importance of public legal education and the use of legal procedures to fight poverty and assist underserved individuals.
